Graham J Clegg Funeral Service

Andrew Roughley Independent Funeral Directors are proud to be able to support the charities and local community clubs below.

We are also pleased to have been able to support The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal for 2023 through the sales of Golden Charter Funeral Plans when £25 is donated for each plan that is sold.

We are privileged to able to help St Joseph's Hospice, Thornton with this years  'Sparkle For St Joseph's Hospice'  appeal. It is a initiative that the hospice hope will bring the sparkle to St Joseph's during the Christmas period. Christmas trees will be lit with beautiful lights and fill the grounds allowing all their patients to have full view of the trees, making the grounds look magical.

We are pleased to say that we have been able to send a donations to each of our charities and local community clubs:

St Joseph's Hospice

Woodlands Hospice

Parkhaven Trust

Mcmillan Cancer Support

Maghull In Bloom

Maghull Football Club

We will be continuing to help our charities throughout the year with the important work that they continue to do.

What We Do

We are a charity based on a beautiful woodland site in Thornton just north of Liverpool. There we run our 29-bed hospice offering end-of-life care for people from sefton, liverpool, knowsley, west lancashire and occasionally further afield.

the money we receive from the NHS does not fund anything like the full cost of the care we provide. st joseph's hospice costs over £3m each year to run and so our Thornton site also acts as the base for a major fundraising operation which includes

- Our charity shops

- Our lottery

- Encouraging and promoting    donations

- Running events and helping others run events for us

- Encouraging and promoting legacies.

We are proud to be a local Merseyside charity - Founded here, caring for local people and answerable to the community we serve.

We rely heavily on local people helping us as volunteers - working in our shops, maintaining our grounds, helping with fundraising, visiting patients etc. We are helped by over 200 committed volunteers but can always use more.

Caring for local people since1996...

A registered charity Woodlands Hospice is dedicated to providing hospice care for the people of North Liverpool, South Sefton and Kirkby in Knowsley.

Hospice care, also referred to as 'Specialist palliative care', aims to improve the lives of people who have life-limiting illnesses. It helps them to live actively and be as independent as possible. This support often extends to patients' carers, family and close friends.

Originally founded in 1996, we are situated in a modern, light and welcoming purpose-built building within the Aintree University Hospital campus.

Our care is holistic, which means that as well as taking care of patients' physical needs their emotional, social and spiritual needs are also looked after.

Philosophy Of Care

The Woodlands Hospice Charitable Trust was set up as a direct response to the needs of local people living with cancer. The experiences of General Practitioners, Macmillan Nurses and hospital staff identified the need for a facility for the care and support of those with life-threatening illnesses in North Liverpool. The day the hospice opened in 1996, the out-patient unit in 2005 and a fifteen bed in-patient unit in 2009.
