Funeral Costings
At Andrew Roughley Independent Funeral Directors we aim to provide a clear, simple, transparent and open pricing policy while providing a funeral service that reflects what both the family and their loved one would wish for. We believe our pricing to be competitive and ensuring the care and attention our team will provide to you and your loved one during every step of the funeral arrangements and afterwards. We do not work on a commission basis and therefore will not add costs to items such as flowers, order of service or newspaper notice. We will guide you through all the arrangements, taking time to ensure the services that are required for the funeral are organised on your behalf.
Below are a few examples of the services we can provide and the cost involved but each funeral service can be organised and arranged to reflect yours and your loved ones individual wishes. If you would like something more individual please let us know and we will work with you to ensure everything is arranged with the upmost dignity and respect. An estimate of the funeral cost will be provided.
We have provided a comparison of cost with local corporate Funeral Directors, as their costs can be considerably higher due to the increased overheads and shareholder requirements that they have. Please ask if the Funeral Directors you intend using are Independent to ensure you receive the best service at the right cost.

Saturday Funerals
We are now able to offer funerals on a Saturday in conjunction with West Lancashire Crematorium,
with no additional surcharge. Our fees, as the funeral director, will remain the same as for
a standard funeral service and the fees charged by West Lancashire Crematorium will
remain the same as their Thursday or Friday cremation service cost.
By offering this service, we hope we will be able to help and assist those families who feel a
funeral service on a Saturday will help ease the stress and difficultly of conducting the
service during the week with the constraints of work and travel arrangements.
West Lancashire Crematorium are also offering a twilight funeral service
each evening at 18:00, 19:00 & 20:00 hrs, again at the same costs as their
standard weekly funeral service times during the day.

When you’re recently bereaved, arranging a funeral can feel overwhelming. And with so many different options nowadays, it’s not easy to know where to start.
In recent years, there has also been a trend towards more simple funerals. These comprise the basic elements such as a hearse, standard coffin and a service in a venue such as a crematorium chapel or church.
Direct cremations, also known as unattended funerals, have risen in popularity too. This is partly to do with pandemic restrictions, which no longer apply, and a desire for greater simplicity and more involvement by families in the process of arranging a funeral.
As your trusted local independent funeral director, we are proud to offer all of these funerals and feel it’s important that our clients understand what each entails, particularly the difference between a direct and a simple service.
Our direct cremation service is offered in partnership with leading crematorium provider Westerleigh Group and its sister company Distinct Cremations – and is available thanks to our membership of the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF).
We’ve teamed up with these high quality organisations to give bereaved people in our community an opportunity to arrange unattended funerals locally and at a price that offers excellent value.
With our unattended funeral option, your loved one will be cared for at our funeral home rather than sent to a large facility in another part of the country. And with our flexible and professional approach, it’s also possible to tailor this service to your needs, subject to appropriate fees.

Funeral Directors Fees: - £750
Direct cremation removes the formality of a traditional funeral service. At the time of need, we arrange to bring the deceased into our care. The date and time of the funeral is arranged and carried out by us. We will try to arrange a funeral date that is convenient for you if requested. There is no ceremony but mourners are able to attend for a few moments if they wish to pay their last respects. The crematorium will provide some background music. The cremated remains can be made available to the family for collection or scattered at the crematorium. A simple and dignified wooden coffin is included. Your loved one will be taken to the crematorium in the hearse.
